چکیده

Chemical kinetics, also known as reaction kinetics, is the study of chemical processes’ rates. Chemical kinetics includes investigations into how different experimental conditions can influence the speed of a chemical reaction, and yield information about the reaction's mechanism and transitional states, as well as the construction of mathematical models that can describe the characteristics of a chemical reaction. The physical state (solid, liquid, or gas) of a reactant is also an important factor regarding rate of change. Many syntheses carried out during the gas-phase, providing a synthesis of the same product, can also be performed during the liquid phase, for simplicity, for major opportunities regarding analysis, and lower risk. This paper studies the kinetic determination of hexamine production in an aqueous solution of ammonia hydroxide and formaldehyde. In the literature, a lot of information can be found about the kinetic determination of hexamine production during gaseous phases. Hexamine (C6H12N4) was produced from aqueous ammonia hydroxide (NH4OH) and aqueous formaldehyde (CH2O) in a batch reactor at different temperatures (T1 = 23 oC, T2 = 24 oC, T3 = 26 oC and T3 = 28 oC): 6 CH2O + 4 NH4OH = C6H12N4 + 10 H2O. The reaction was observed by measuring a certain concentration by titration, in our case, non-reactive ammonia hydroxide. The concentration and kinetic parameters of the ammonia hydroxide’s reaction (reaction rate constant, rate order, activation energy) were determined by using experimental parameters.

Mixing Studies in Loop Bioreactors for Production of Biomass from Natural Gas

The mixing behavior of the gas-liquid phase in three loop bioreactors was investigated. A gas-induced External Airlift Loop Bioreactor (EALB), a forced-liquid Vertical Tubular Loop Bioreactor (VTLB) and a forced-liquid Horizontal Tubular Loop Bioreactor (HTLB) were used for mixing studies as well as biomass production from natural gas. The effect of design parameters, riser to downcomer cro...

Stability analysis of stratified two-phase liquid-gas flow in a horizontal pipe

This study aimed at linear stability analysis of the stratified two-phase liquid-gas flow in a horizontal pipe. First, equations governing the linear stability of flow in each phase and boundary conditions were obtained. The governing equations were eigenvalue Orr Sommerfeld equations which are difficult and stiff problems to solve. After obtaining the velocity profiles of the gas and liquid ph...
